ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਵ: ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਬੋਲੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਰ ਇਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡਾ ਬਚਪਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ । ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਵਿਰਸਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਸੱਭਿਅਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰ ਦਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ: ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੋਂਦ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ । ਸਿਰਫ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਖੁੱਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਸੁੱਖ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰਾਂ ਫਰੋਲੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ । ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਲਵੇ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਉਹ ਪਕੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ 'ਤੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ, ਅਖਾਣ, ਮੁਹਾਵਰੇ , ਮੌਲਿਕਤਾ ਆਦਿ ਸਭ ਪੱਖ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਜ-ਸੁਭਾਅ ਹੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।

ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ : ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖੀ ਲਿਪੀ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਤਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਿਕ ਵਿਰਸਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਮੀਰ ਹੈ । ਇਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ 150 ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਬੋਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ । 14 ਕਰੋੜ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ । ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਹੈ । ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਮੂਲ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇਸ-ਵਿਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ । ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਦੀਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਚਲੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ । ਇਸ ਦੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਨੁਹਾਰ, ਵੱਖਰੀ ਬਣਤਰ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਹੈ ।

ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ: ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ । ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹਰ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਜਲਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਸਾਨੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਮਝ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਸਖ਼ਸ਼ੀਅਤਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਅ ਵੀ ਮਾਂ-ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ । ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਅਪਣੱਤ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਰ-ਦੁਰਾਡੇ ਬੈਠੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ । ਜਦੋਂ ਆਪਸੀ ਸਹਿਨਸ਼ੀਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਾ ਵਧੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।

ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ : ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨਦਾਇਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਲਕਿ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿੰਨੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਸਿੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਉੱਨੇ ਹੋਰ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਖੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪਰ ਹੋਰਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤ-ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਾਦਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਨਾਕ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਾਡੇ ਮਨਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬਾਰੇ, ਇਸ ਦੀ ਉਚਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਧਾਰਨਾ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਮੰਡੀ ਮੁੱਲ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਮਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਬਚਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵਤ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ।

ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ : ਇੱਥੋਂ ਦਾ ਜਲਿਆਂਵਾਲਾ ਬਾਗ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦਗਾਰ ਅਖਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਇੱਥੇ 13 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ , 1919 ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਜਨਰਲ ਡਾਇਰ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੋਲੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੁੰਨ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਸੀ । ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਲਾਟ ਬਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ।

7. Guru Gobind Singh was a spiritual master as well as a fierce warrior.

8. He was the founder of the Khalsa Path, a warrior community, in 1699.

9. He was a learned man, a great poet and a philosopher.

10. He compiled a number of books and poetry collections in his life.

11. He fought many wars against the Mughals.

12. Guru Ji was very brave and he always fought for the justice.

13. Guru Gobind Singh Ji had four sons.

14. Two of his youngest sons, Sahibzade Zorawar Singh Ji and Fateh Singh Ji, were bricked alive.

15. His two elder sons, Sahibzade Ajit Singh Ji and Jujhar Singh Ji were martyred in the battle of Chamkaur Sahib.

16. Guru Sahib sacrificed his entire family for the sake of the country and religion.

17. He is honored in history as 'Sarbanas Dani'.

18. He finalised the Guru Granth Sahib and composed and compiled the Dasam Granth.

19. Before his death, Guru Ji conferred Guruship upon Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

20. Guru Ji died of fatal wound on October 7, 1708 at Nanded.
